Continue Serving as a Veterinarian

View our Veterinarian pathway here.

Veterinarians are essential to our community and are the only doctors qualified to treat animal diseases, disorders, and injuries. Continue your service by protecting the health and wellbeing of our animals. By 2029, the Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts veterinary medicine will grow by 16%. If you served as an Army veterinarian, the Kentucky Board of Veterinary Examiners (KBVE) will waive up to $400 in licensure fees for active-duty personnel and up to $200 in licensure fees for retired and non-retired veterans.

Applicants who have taken the American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE) would simply submit their test scores, along with an application form, directly to KBVE. Visit https://www.kybve.com/documents/Application-Veterinarian.pdf to download an application form. To request an additional copy of your NAVLE test results or seek approval to take the exam, visit https://www.icva.net/navle/. The Kentucky Board of Veterinary Examiners also requires applicants to score at least 75% or higher on the state jurisprudence exam. Check out the state exam at https://www.kybve.com/documents/Kentucky-State-Exam-Veterinarian-Licensure.pdf. Getting your veterinary license couldn’t have been easier!
